Nanda is an aerial artist and arborist based in Vienna. Over several years of teaching trapeze and rope, she has developed a teaching approach centered on empowering students to find their own movement voice. Her practice combines technical precision with creative exploration, supporting students in building confidence, body awareness, and personal expression.
Nanda’s love for aerial arts has accompanied her throughout her entire life. As a child, she joined a local youth circus in Germany, where she immediately felt drawn to aerial disciplines. At the age of 20, she moved to Vienna, where a new door opened into the vast aerial world. She began training at Aerial Silk Vienna, a well-known studio offering classes in multiple aerial disciplines and hosting international guest artists and workshops.
While continuing to deepen her trapeze practice, she discovered aerial rope, with which she felt an immediate connection. Trapeze and rope have since become her main disciplines. Motivated by a strong desire to learn and expand her practice, Nanda attended numerous workshops in Vienna and internationally. She completed a one-month intensive program at La Central del Circ in Barcelona with Gravity Circus School, attended the Creative Intensive at the Irish Aerial Creation Centre and completed the Trapeze Teacher Training Level 1 with Paper Doll Militia. Alongside her in-person training, she studied through private online coaching with Alex Allan over a period of two years. 2021 Nanda started teaching at Aerial Silk Vienna rope and trapeze.
After many years of focusing primarily on strength and technical development, her artistic interests gradually shifted toward movement quality and creative expression. Her movement style integrates dynamics and flow, connecting one movement to the next and creating a narrative told through the moving body.
Workshops
Static Trapeze – Fundamentals: First Steps for Beginners (Friday, 01.05.2026 14:00 – 15:30)
Level: Beginner
This trapeze workshop is designed for beginners with no previous experience. It offers a playful and supportive introduction to the world of aerial arts and invites participants to experience the trapeze for the very first time.
During the workshop, we will get to know the apparatus and become familiar with the bar and the ropes. Participants will learn how to safely mount and sit on the trapeze, explore basic positions, and build confidence while moving in the air. Step by step, we will learn our first figures and simple tricks, always focusing on body awareness, safety, and enjoyment of movement.
The workshop creates a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere where everyone can progress at their own pace. It aims to spark curiosity, build trust in the body, and inspire participants to discover the joy and fascination of the trapeze.
Who can join? All aerialists are welcome. There are no prerequisites.
Static Trapeze – Connecting Movements (Friday, 01.05.2026 16:30 – 18:30)
Level: Beginner+
This trapeze workshop is designed for beginner-plus participants who already have some initial experience on the trapeze and are excited to continue exploring the apparatus. It is ideal for students who are still at the beginning of their trapeze journey but feel comfortable with basic positions and are ready to expand their movement vocabulary.
During the workshop, participants will learn new figures, transitions, and tricks while further developing strength, coordination, and confidence in the air. We will focus on refining technique, improving body awareness, and exploring smoother and more controlled movement pathways.
Students will also begin to connect individual skills into small sequences and simple flows, allowing them to experience continuity and rhythm in their movement. The workshop encourages curiosity, creativity, and personal progress while maintaining a safe, supportive, and motivating learning environment.
Who can join? All aerialists who already have some initial experience on the trapeze and feel comfortable with basic positions.
Static Trapeze – Dynamic Technique and Flows (Friday, 01.05.2026 19:00 – 21:00)
Level: Intermediate
This trapeze intermediate workshop is designed for students who already feel confident and safe with the basic skills on the trapeze and have gathered solid experience in aerial training.
In this workshop, students will expand their trapeze vocabulary by learning new figures, exploring their first dynamic movements, and working on more complex sequences. We will focus on developing technical precision while also encouraging fluidity, control, and efficiency in movement.
Beyond technical development, the workshop introduces elements of movement quality, expression, and creativity. Participants will be encouraged to explore how movements connect, how intention shapes performance, and how to create more engaging and personal aerial pathways.
The training offers physically and technically challenging material while maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment. It aims to help students deepen their understanding of the trapeze, strengthen their movement confidence, and further develop their individual aerial style.
Who can join? All aerialists who have a secure understanding of fundamental positions, transitions, and mounts, as well as at least one year of regular aerial practice and a solid foundation of strength.
Dance Trapeze – Spinning Pathways and Sequences (Saturday, 02.05.2026 10:30 – 12:30)
Level: Intermediate
In this workshop, we will explore the unique possibilities of the Dance Trapeze — an apparatus suspended from a single point. We will work on spinning techniques, learning how to move freely and safely while rotating in the air. We will also spend time in the ropes, incorporating fluid and more complex transitions.
The workshop combines technical challenges with artistic exploration, helping students develop body awareness, fluidity, and expressive movement while deepening their trapeze vocabulary. It is ideal for aerialists who want to expand their skills, experiment with new dynamics, and bring more creativity and playfulness into their trapeze practice.
Who can join? Anyone with prior trapeze experience, ideally with at least one year of aerial training. Participants should feel confident and safe on the trapeze and have a solid foundation in basic skills.
Aerial Rope – Advanced Dynamics and Sequences (Sunday, 03.05.2026 10:30 – 12:30)
Level: Advanced
In this workshop, students will deepen their understanding of dynamic rope technique. We will explore dynamic elements such as pop-throughs. These technical elements will then be combined into more complex sequences, helping participants build timing and flow in their movement.
Alongside dynamic work, we will also focus on rolling techniques on the rope. These concepts will support a better understanding of body pathways, weight shifts, and how to move fluidly around the apparatus.
Throughout the workshop, Nanda will share her technical approach, with a focus on breaking down complex skills into clear and accessible progressions. The goal is to help students refine their technique, expand their movement vocabulary, and develop greater confidence when working with dynamic rope material in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Who can join? Anyone who already feels confident and safe working on the rope. Participants should be familiar with basic rope beats such as front/back beats, scissor beats and straddle beats.
