Johannes Thumser

by | Jan 30, 2025 | Aerials Weekend Karlsruhe #3, Artists

Originally from Regensburg, Johannes has always been passionate about movement. While still in school, he trained as a Pilates and fitness instructor, regularly attended jazz classes, and began teaching athletics and Pilates at just 16 years old. After gaining his first stage experience as a dancer with ROBINSON, he moved to Hamburg for his studies in sports and business administration, where dance became a central part of his life, leading him to discover aerial arts.

Inspired by these passions, Johannes pursued professional training at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich. As a co-founder of STONEBITE STUDIOS, he fulfilled his dream of creating a space where everyone – regardless of their background – can train, explore new disciplines, and find joy in movement.

Specializing in aerial arts, Johannes focuses on silks and straps, combining his dance background to bring versatility and fluidity to his aerial performances. Drawing from his extensive knowledge in fitness, sports, and dance, he offers guidance on efficient training techniques, injury prevention, and building strength and flexibility. His teaching style motivates students to persist and master even the most challenging tricks.

Johannes continues to expand his expertise through workshops and stage performances, constantly evolving as an aerial artist and instructor.

Creative Poses: Unleash your creativity and explore exciting poses to incorporate into your own sequences – whether for the stage or just for personal enjoyment.
Where Technique Meets Art: We’ll focus on the fine details that make all the difference – from timing to control – leaving room for you to express your unique style and flair.

Prerequisites:
You should be comfortable with inversions and familiar with basic skills such as foot knots, hip lock, and thigh hitch.

Aerial Straps Duo Workshop (with Izabele): Intermediate – Sunday, 23.03.2025 14:00-16:00
In this workshop we will work on Aerial Straps Duo elements that already require to have some aerial experience. The workshop material is most suitable for students feeling comfortable on one arm hangs, a clean invert (best straight arm, but not required) and a 10s pull up hold. This workshop also includes preparational exercises for keeping the shoulders healthy during aerial work and conditioning exercises for desired aerial tricks.
