Duo MarMor (Mareike & Moritz) is an aerial acrobatics duo from Heidelberg (part and founder of Luftartistik Heidelberg) . Both have been active in the field of circus arts for over 20 years and have been training together as a duo for the past 10 years. Starting as a trapeze duo, they later expanded to duo aerial silks and most recently to duo giant loops. Their performances are characterized by many dynamic and fast-paced transitions, as well as strength elements and elegant movements. A unique feature of the duo is that they switch between the flyer and catcher positions and they perform with a catcher position that is rarely seen in aerial arts, they call dragonfly.
Mareike fell in love with aerial silks more than 20 years ago and has continued to refine her passion ever since. Before teaming up with her partner Moritz, she spent 10 years alternating between the roles of catcher and flyer in female duos. As a result, she is highly experienced in both positions. She also performs solo static trapeze.
Also with their free-standing aerial rig, they regularly perform at various events. In addition to their main profession as secondary school teachers, Mareike and Moritz also lead aerial workshops, offer participatory programs, run holiday programs for children, organize circus clubs in schools, and oversee open training sessions for adults in Heidelberg. Thanks to their many years of experience in gymnastics clubs working with children and youth groups, they have built up a large repertoire of figures and sequences that are especially well-suited for beginners.
Workshops
Trapeze – Solo Beginner (Saturday, 15.11.2025 14:00 – 15:30)
Level: Beginner
Ready to explore the world of trapeze? This workshop is a perfect entry point for anyone curious about this dynamic and playful aerial apparatus. With the bar set just above head height, we’ll be working in a safe and accessible space while discovering how strong, creative, and expressive we can be on the trapeze.
Led by Mareike, this workshop introduces us to a variety of beginner-friendly moves – each with its own unique flavor and name. We’ll learn classics such as the Banana, Spanish Invert, Knee Hang, Meathook, Window, Neck Hang, and more. Some may sound wild, but don’t worry – they’re all broken down step by step, with variations to suit our level.
We’ll also focus on body awareness, grip, transitions, and how to move with confidence and control, whether hanging from the ropes or balancing on the bar.
You will gain:
• A strong foundation in static trapeze technique
• A fun collection of tricks to build our own little routine
• Confidence in using both the ropes and the bar creatively
Ideal for:
Absolute beginners with some basic strength and curiosity for aerial arts. Whether we’re new to trapeze or just want to revisit the fundamentals with fresh eyes, this workshop offers a supportive and light-hearted environment to play, learn, and surprise ourselves.
Who can join? All aerialists who are able to hold their own body weight and get into an inverted position – with the help of the ropes or bar.
Aerial Silk – Solo Preparation for Duo Catcher/Base (Saturday, 15.11.2025 16:30 – 18:30)
Level: Beginner+
This workshop is designed for aerialists looking to transition from solo training into duo work. Mareike’s focus will be on refining solo techniques that serve as a solid foundation for future partner aerial exploration. We will gain a deeper understanding of body awareness, tension management, and spatial orientation – all crucial for becoming a reliable base/catcher in a duo setting.
We’ll be introduced to a range of catcher-style positions, such as the catcher’s wrap, straddle back, and our signature dragonfly position. These are not only beautiful and secure in themselves, but also serve as anchor points and transitional movements in duo silks.
Throughout the session, we’ll explore how these shapes can evolve into shared weight-bearing moments, and how to adjust our solo work with the dynamics of a partner in mind.
Ideal for:
Solo aerialists who are curious about or preparing for duo work – whether for performance, training partnerships, or simply expanding their skills.
Who can join? All aerialists who can comfortably climb (Russian and French styles), perform clean inverts and short one-arm hangs, and do footlocks on one and both feet.
Aerial Silk – Duo Beginner Catcher & Flyer (Sunday, 16.11.2025 10:30 – 12:30)
Level: Duo Beginner (Solo Intermediate)
Curious about flying and sharing the silks with someone else? This beginner-friendly duo workshop is our introduction to the world of partner aerial work. Whether we’re flyers or catchers (or want to explore both), we’ll learn how to safely and creatively share the fabric, communicate in the air, and build trust through movement.
We’ll be guided through a variety of accessible mounts – such as the stomach mount, kip mount, and spin mount – as well as playful spinning techniques such as the coffee grinder and the propeller. We’ll also explore elegant shapes in splits and straddles, and be introduced to a few simple duo dynamics for those of us ready to take the leap (literally!).
You will learn:
• How to mount and balance on shared fabric
• Foundational duo spins and transitions
• Clear communication cues for safe partnering
• Poses and shapes that showcase trust, connection, and creativity
• How to support our partner – and be supported in return
Ideal for:
Aerialists who feel confident in our solo work and are ready to explore connection in the air. We can come with a partner if possible, or be open to pairing up with someone new. This is a joyful, encouraging space to try duo work for the first time, develop sensitivity to a partner’s movement, and enjoy the magic of flying together.
Who can join? All aerialists who can hold a secure and comfortable catcher position that they can hold for a while. It’s an added bonus if they sign up with their favorite duo partner, but solo sign-ups are welcome too!
Trapeze – Duo Beginner (Sunday, 16.11.2025 14:00 – 16:00)
Level: Duo Beginner (Solo Beginner+)
Curious about exploring aerial movement with a partner? This beginner-friendly duo trapeze workshop offers us the perfect opportunity to dive into shared weight, connection, and creativity – regardless of age, fitness level, or size. We especially welcome parent-child duos, friends, or anyone who wants to experience the joy of working together in the air.
With the trapeze rigged just above head height, we’ll be able to safely experiment with partner balances, mirroring shapes and low-flying lifts, all while staying close to the ground. The material is playful, adaptable, and inclusive – making it a great introduction to duo work even if you’ve never tried it before.
Whether you’re a base, flyer, or want to switch roles, you’ll learn how to listen to each other’s movement, distribute weight mindfully, and create moments of trust and teamwork on the bar and ropes.
You will learn:
• Basic duo mounts and shapes on the low trapeze
• Shared transitions, counterbalances, and lifts
• How to communicate clearly and build trust in motion
• Variations for different partner sizes and experience levels
• Tricks that can be later adapted for higher rigging
Ideal for:
Aerialists with some solo trapeze experience who want to explore duo work in a safe, low setting. Perfect for partners of all kinds – including mixed-level pairs, family members, or new friends looking for a shared creative challenge.
Who can join? All aerialists who have basic experience on the trapeze and sufficient grip strength. Inverts are helpful but not required – they’ll always be supported by the floor, ropes, or bar. Signing up with a partner is encouraged, but solo participants are welcome and will be paired.
